Financial Controller – Travel & Tourism

About the role

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, supporting business growth through strategic financial management, and maintaining strong internal controls. The role operates within the Travel & Tourism sector in Dar es Salaam and reports to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all financial and accounting operations in compliance with IFRS and Tanzanian regulations, preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and ensuring timely reconciliations.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risks, and monitor performance to identify cost‑optimization opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with TRA tax requirements including VAT, PAYE, and statutory obligations, and coordinate with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities as needed.
• Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and policies, supervise accounting staff, support branch financial operations, and provide insights for management decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of tax planning, compliance, and financial management, with a good understanding of Tanzanian financial and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, strong leadership and team‑management abilities, and excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
