Finance Operations Specialist

About the role

The Finance Operations Specialist ensures that all general ledger (GL) accounts are accurately reconciled, validated, and ready for financial statement preparation. The role supports policy awareness, audit issue tracking, and the management of the bank’s IFRS 16 model.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review reconciliations for all assigned GL accounts within Head Office Finance.
• Distribute trial balances to branches on the first working day of each month for branch GL reconciliations.
• Identify, investigate, and query exceptional items according to internal business rules.
• Escalate items exceeding limits to the Finance Manager and ensure timely action by account owners.
• Track audit issues, follow up on closures, and report reconciliation issues discussed in balance‑sheet review committees.
• Assist in reviewing finance policies, standards, and compliance with the Account Ownership and Reconciliation (AOR) policy.
• Maintain and update the IFRS 16 model, posting required journals to align the general ledger.
• Participate in finance risk forums and ensure items outside service level agreements are escalated.

Required profile

• Experience in finance operations and GL account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with IFRS 16 accounting standards.
• Ability to track and resolve audit and reconciliation issues.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
