Finance Assistant

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the Finance Team in delivering accurate bookkeeping, budget monitoring, and financial analysis for field districts. This role provides financial advisory support to field teams, ensuring strong controls and compliance across all financial activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and file all financial documents (cash advances, requests, receipts) to keep records audit‑ready.
• Post journal entries, manage fuel accountability, and record government official payments.
• Receive, log, verify, and process invoices via the procurement module; follow up on vendor disputes.
• Review and reconcile project activity accountability, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee individual accounts for assigned field officers and follow up on outstanding accountability.
• Review mobile‑money transactions for compliance, initiate payments via Beyonic, verify beneficiaries, and flag variances.
• Report non‑compliant financial practices to Finance Leadership.
• Recommend improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings; provide financial guidance to staff.
• Update finance systems with timely data and participate in monthly Sage project reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, budget tracking, and implementation of financial policies as a finance business partner to field offices.
• Reconcile staff advances, petty cash, and project‑specific accounts monthly; manage weekly staff advance activity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (Accounting) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance management or audit.
• Practical experience with mobile‑money payment solutions.
