Exploration Project Lead – Mining

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Exploration Lead to drive discovery and resource growth within our Tanzania exploration projects. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, you will lead field‑based programs in world‑class gold and copper districts, ensuring high technical standards and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute near‑mine and regional exploration programmes aligned with country strategy and budget.
• Generate targets, conduct geological modelling, oversee drilling, sampling and evaluation to advance orebody discovery.
• Maintain rigorous QA/QC, data management and geological interpretation standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop the site exploration team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Manage drilling contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with safety, productivity, quality, cost and contractual obligations.
• Ensure adherence to Journey to Zero, Global Drilling Standard, environmental, regulatory and ISO requirements.
• Control project schedules, budgets, forecasts and operational risks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Support stakeholder engagement, land access, permitting and licence compliance.
• Provide timely technical, operational, safety and financial reporting to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geoscience; an MSc or PhD is a plus.
• Proven experience leading exploration programmes in gold and/or copper districts.
• Strong leadership and team‑development capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules and contractor performance.
