Electrotechnical Technician – Individual Contractor

About the role
The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals seeks an experienced Electrotechnical Technician on an individual contractor basis to ensure that all critical building systems in its Arusha office operate reliably with minimal downtime. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and support for construction or upgrade projects.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and maintain distributed building equipment and systems, including electrical power distribution, HVAC, water and fire pumps, generators, UPS, and solar power.
- Conduct daily inspections of major equipment and perform regular preventive‑maintenance tasks.
- Prepare maintenance schedules, reports, and requisitions for supplies.
- Carry out electrical, plumbing, and basic office‑equipment repairs.
- Perform welding, metal forming, and fabrication as required.
- Undertake minor construction work such as installing partitions, changing locks, and replacing glass.
- Coordinate with external contractors, ensuring work complies with specifications and standards.
- Provide status updates and documentation for completed work.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent in a technical field.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant facilities‑management experience.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; working knowledge of French required, Swahili desirable.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications.
