Customs Declaration Officer

About the role

MO Freight Company Limited is seeking a competent Customs Declaration Officer to join its growing logistics team in Dar es Salaam. The role involves managing import, export, transit and warehousing entries through Tanzania's electronic customs platform, ensuring smooth cargo clearance for clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process customs declarations using the Tanzania National Electronic Single Window (TANESW) system.
• Ensure accurate tariff classification, valuation and application of customs procedures.
• Submit import, export, transit and warehousing entries and liaise with TRA, TBS, GCLA, TAEC and other authorities for permits.
• Verify shipping documents such as Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin and permits.
• Monitor declaration progress, resolve queries promptly and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with the East African Community Customs Management Act and related regulations.
• Provide clients with timely updates on shipment status.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum three years of proven experience as a Customs Declaration Officer.
• Strong knowledge of customs laws, tariffs and import/export regulations.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• High integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the TANESW system.
• Hands‑on experience in customs declaration procedures.
