Credit Sanctioning Analyst

About the role

The Credit Sanctioning Analyst is responsible for reviewing, challenging, and approving credit applications within a delegated lending mandate at NBC, Tanzania's longest‑standing bank. The role balances business growth with prudent risk management, acting as the final control point for credit risk acceptance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve or decline credit applications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
• Identify key risks, mitigants, and conditions precedent, and ensure alignment with retail credit policy, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance to Credit Analysts on complex cases and oversee consistency of credit underwriting standards.
• Define facility structures, pricing recommendations, and collateral requirements; approve related legal and insurance documentation.
• Liaise with Legal, Treasury, Security Management, and Branch Network to ensure loan structuring and disbursement readiness.
• Monitor portfolio performance, concentration risk, and sector exposure; support portfolio reviews and remediation strategies.
• Ensure all approvals comply with internal policies and regulatory standards, and support audit closure.
