Credit Risk Manager

About the role

The Credit Risk Manager safeguards Serengeti Breweries Limited’s revenue and cash flow by managing customer credit risk and working capital. The role ensures credit is granted according to policy, monitors exposures, and minimises overdue receivables while supporting commercial growth in a competitive FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain robust credit risk policies and procedures aligned with group standards.
• Assess customer creditworthiness using financial analysis, market intelligence and internal sales data.
• Review and approve credit limits, payment terms and guarantees within delegated authority.
• Continuously monitor credit exposure, debtor ageing and risk concentrations across routes to market.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Service to ensure timely collections, adequate working capital and optimal cash conversion.
• Track overdue balances, drive action plans to reduce ageing and bad‑debt provisions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Commercial Finance, Legal and Supply Chain to balance risk and growth objectives.
• Prepare regular credit risk and receivables performance reports for management and group reporting.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required credit documentation and analysis.
• Coach credit controllers and finance team members to improve credit management capability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit risk management within a fast‑moving consumer goods or similar environment.
• Strong analytical ability to assess financial statements and market data.
• Knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements and governance standards.
• Excellent stakeholder collaboration skills across sales, finance, legal and supply chain functions.
• Ability to lead and develop credit control teams.
