Corporate Associate

About the role

The Corporate Associate will support the Partner in handling corporate law matters for the firm and its clients. This role involves drafting legal documents, supervising a corporate team, and providing client-facing legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and draft contracts, mortgages, separation agreements, and legal opinions.
• Review, edit, and approve contracts and other legal documents prepared by the team.
• Assign tasks to the corporate team, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.
• Attend client meetings on behalf of the Partner and represent the firm in corporate matters.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on their matters.
• Conduct team meetings to discuss workload, priorities, and legal updates.
• Mentor and guide the corporate team, conduct monthly evaluations, and submit them to HR.
• Provide legal advice on corporate issues and prepare reports for management.
• Oversee billing of assignments, collaborate with administration for payment follow‑up, and meet KPI targets.
• Ensure the team adheres to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognised university.
• Admitted and enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.
• Valid practising certificate and eligibility or membership of the Tanganyika Law Society.
• 3–5 years of post‑admission experience in corporate and commercial law.
• Experience in corporate and company secretarial matters, contract drafting, legal opinions, research and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with relevant government and regulatory authorities such as BRELA, TIC, NEMC, OSHA, etc.
