Core Shed Technician (Level 1)

About the role

We are looking for a Technician 1 to support the Geology Coreshed at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania. The role involves handling and processing drilling samples, ensuring quality and compliance, and coordinating daily activities with a small team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform core marking and geotechnical logging of drill cores before sampling for laboratory submission.
• Validate and securely store drillhole information in the geological database and systems.
• Plan and monitor routine work schedules for sub‑ordinates, ensuring adherence to procedures and quality standards.
• Conduct toolbox talks, identify hazards, and enforce safety and housekeeping standards in the Coreshed.
• Provide technical support to field crews during mapping or drilling operations and reconcile sample quality.

Required profile

• Secondary Education or Diploma in Mineral Exploration from a recognized institution.
• Tanzanian citizenship (driving licence is an advantage).
• Minimum 2 years (Diploma) or 3 years (Secondary) experience in core marking, geotechnical logging, field mapping and exploration drilling (Diamond and RC).

Required skills

• Computer literacy with MS Excel and MS Word.
• Core marking and geotechnical logging techniques.
• Field mapping and experience with Diamond and RC drilling.
• Understanding of departmental and sitewide HSE standards.
• Ability to coordinate and lead small teams.
