Container Freight Station (CFS) Supervisor

About the role

The Container Freight Station (CFS) Supervisor will lead daily CFS and yard operations in Dar es Salaam, ensuring smooth cargo movement, optimal use of equipment, and strict compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day CFS operations and oversee all yard activities.
• Deliver a customer‑centric service, meeting or exceeding expectations.
• Provide visible safety leadership to eliminate hazards.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment.
• Maintain asset records and optimise utilisation of reach stackers, forklifts and other equipment.
• Drive volume targets and monitor performance against objectives.
• Set performance targets for direct reports and conduct regular appraisals.
• Ensure all activities comply with A.P. Moller‑Maersk health and safety policies.
• Update operational documents in Masterfile (LOGSTAR/IFS/SOPs).
• Attract, develop and retain talent through ongoing training.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing CFS or yard operations.
• Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a track record of high‑quality service delivery.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Reach stacker operation
• Forklift operation
• Experience with LOGSTAR system
• Experience with IFS system
• Knowledge of SOP documentation and updates
