Condition Monitoring Technician (Level 1)

About the role

The Technician 1 – Condition Monitoring supports the underground equipment Reliability Engineer by performing day‑to‑day monitoring of mobile and fixed mining equipment. The role ensures reliable operation through predictive maintenance techniques and contributes to strategic maintenance decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and conduct mechanical and electrical predictive maintenance activities such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, precision alignment, ultrasound testing, dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle inspection, and oil analysis.
• Enter equipment nameplate and bearing data into the monitoring system and use condition‑monitoring tools (vibration collectors, thermography cameras, sound analysers, ultrasonic thickness gauges).
• Perform component inspections (MPI, LPI, UT), assist in balancing and alignment, and collect oil/grease samples.
• Prepare action notes, reports, and weekly condition‑monitoring plans; ensure tools are calibrated, clean, and safely stored.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and planning teams to schedule repairs and execute planned tasks.
• Observe all safety requirements, stop unsafe work when necessary, and report abnormal equipment conditions immediately.

Required profile

• Diploma or FTC in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (Bachelor’s degree is a plus).
• Minimum 2 years experience in mining asset management, reliability monitoring, and work on both fixed and mobile equipment.
• Certifications in vibration analysis, thermography, non‑destructive testing (PT, MT, UT), and reliability engineering or condition‑monitoring courses.
• Valid Tanzanian driving licence.
