Assistant General Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing operations on Mnemba Island, a luxury resort owned by &Beyond. The role combines guest‑experience leadership, staff development, and operational oversight to ensure the highest standards of service and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in daily operations, guest interactions, check‑ins, room allocations and coordination of Housekeeping, Butler and Kitchen teams.
• Support training and development of staff and ensure performance management processes are followed.
• Participate in OPEX and CAPEX budgeting, uniform and supply ordering, and bi‑annual South Africa procurement.
• Manage social media, PR communications and maintain supplier relationships.
• Oversee conservation projects and liaise with government, NGOs and community partners.
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports, handle HR administration, contracts and IR issues.
• Assist in strategic meetings, departmental and regional reviews.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience in hospitality operations or management.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, maintain attention to detail and deliver guest delight.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard computer applications.
