Assistant Estimator

About the role

Burhani Power Engineers Ltd, an engineering firm in Tanzania with over 40 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, civil, sustainable energy and instrumentation projects, is hiring an Assistant Estimator. The role manages tender pricing, documentation and CRM updates, ensuring accurate cost estimation, compliance with technical requirements and proper record keeping for all tendering and quotation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze tender documents and client requirements to prepare competitive pricing proposals, and develop cost estimates for materials, labour and overheads.
• Revise bids based on updated client requirements or internal feedback, documenting and communicating changes.
• Research market prices for materials and services, maintain supplier and vendor price lists and build and keep a rate master.
• Prepare complete tender submissions, including technical data sheets and manufacturer authorizations, and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for certifications and approvals.
• Update opportunity statuses, open new opportunities and enter data from Excel sheets into the CRM, and generate quotations directly in the CRM.
• Maintain records of supplier quotations, BOQs and tendering documents, track and archive historical pricing data, and perform other related tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tendering, estimation or commercial operations within engineering or construction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and CRM platforms.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills for cost estimation.
• Proficiency in tender documentation and technical compliance.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and data management.
• Excellent organization, multitasking, attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and documentation.
