Assistant Accountant (2 positions)

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will support the Financial Controller in daily accounting operations for Rijk Zwaan Tanzania’s seed production facilities in Arusha. The role involves processing transactions, maintaining ledgers and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain company ledgers, process daily financial transactions, reconcile invoices and correct ledger discrepancies.
• Manage payments and billing for external service providers, contractors and vendors, process reimbursements and staff travel imprests.
• Verify payments and deposits, coordinate with banks, perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist in stock verification.
• Handle payroll activities, release salaries and prepare/file statutory payments such as PAYE, SDL, WCF, Service Levy, NHIF, HLSB and monthly VAT returns via the TRA online system.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting.
• CPA(T) Intermediate level is an added advantage.
• Minimum three years of experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, tax and finance regulations and high business ethics.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Experience with Navision accounting software.
