Agribusiness Manager

About the role

The Manager Agribusiness will lead the growth and profitability of the bank’s agribusiness retail portfolio in Tanzania. Reporting to senior leadership, the role provides strategic direction, oversees loan processing aligned with agricultural cycles, and ensures robust risk and governance standards. The position also creates a high‑performance environment for the team to deliver innovative agribusiness solutions to retail clients.

Key responsibilities

• Drive sustainable growth of the Agri Retail portfolio while maintaining profitability, diversification and market penetration.
• Oversee end‑to‑end commercial activities, including timely processing, approval and disbursement of loan facilities in line with production cycles.
• Monitor portfolio performance, coordinate with Cluster Heads and ensure business targets are met within approved budgets.
• Prepare growth plans and budgets for the Agribusiness Retail unit and coordinate implementation to achieve targets.
• Review credit appraisals submitted by Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers, providing technical guidance on credit structures.
• Present and defend credit applications before the Credit team and relevant approval authorities.
• Formulate and implement the Agri Retail strategy, identifying opportunities across the agricultural value chain for cross‑selling and innovative solutions.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with government institutions, guarantors, donors, development partners and other stakeholders to enhance financial inclusion and sector growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in agribusiness portfolio management and strategic leadership.
• Strong understanding of agricultural credit processes and risk management.
• Ability to develop and execute growth plans, budgets and performance monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience liaising with government, donors and development partners.
