Accounts Clerk – Fixed-term (2-year)

About the role

The European Union Delegation to Tanzania and the East African Community is recruiting an Accounts Clerk (Group III) on a two‑year fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Head of the Administration Section, the clerk will support the control and maintenance of accounts and the processing of financial transactions in line with EU financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify and register incoming invoices and payment requests in the SUMMA financial system.
• Ensure timely payments to local bank accounts and follow up outstanding or non‑executed transactions.
• Maintain the contractor database, including legal entity and bank details.
• Encode commitments, de‑commitments and budget forecasts in the mission’s budgeting software.
• Manage petty‑cash accounts and support routine financial reporting and annual budget estimates.
• Assist with audit, compliance and any ad‑hoc financial analyses required by the Delegation.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in public‑sector or international‑organization accounting.
• Good knowledge of EU financial regulations and procurement procedures.
• Ability to work under supervision, with high integrity and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in English; occasional atypical working hours may be required.

Required skills

• SUMMA financial system.
• Budget forecasting and mission management software.
• Basic office IT skills (e.g., MS Office).
