Accountant – Mining Industry, Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Accountant will support accounting and financial management activities for a mining client in Dar es Salaam. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance and assisting with audit and tax processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts in line with accounting standards and company policies.
• Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses and bank movements.
• Perform bank, creditor and debtor reconciliations.
• Prepare statutory tax returns (VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT) and ensure compliance with TRA regulations and filing deadlines.
• Assist with audit documentation and tax assessments.
• Monitor stock accounting, reconcile physical inventory, and support import costing and landed‑cost allocation.
• Manage supplier payments, customer invoicing, receivable follow‑up and ageing reports.
• Maintain accounting records using Tally, ensuring data accuracy and supporting internal control improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Tally accounting software.
