Accountant – Full‑time, Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Accountant will manage a broad range of financial and administrative tasks, including accounts payable, bank and vendor reconciliations, invoice processing, fuel and inventory tracking, financial reporting, and internal communications. The role ensures accurate financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting to management.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and post inter‑unit debit notes with supporting documentation.
• Review, validate and post vendor invoices; monitor AP aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Reconcile supplier statements with general‑ledger entries, especially for high‑priority vendors.
• Coordinate with procurement and store teams to verify goods and services received.
• Post house rent and funding transactions accurately and promptly.
• Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Verify and post fuel invoices in coordination with procurement/store teams.
• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly financial performance reports.
• Assist with budget‑vs‑actual analysis and variance commentary.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support internal and external audits.
• Support month‑end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Training in accounting software, financial reporting, taxation and relevant regulations.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and bookkeeping procedures.
