Specialist: Fixed Network

About the role

As a Specialist in Fixed Network you will be responsible for planning, designing, deploying and optimizing Vodacom Tanzania’s fixed broadband infrastructure, including FTTH, FTTx and wireless access solutions. You will ensure secure, scalable and cost‑effective services that meet both customer expectations and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and govern fixed access solutions such as FTTH, FTTx, FWA, point‑to‑point fibre and microwave networks.
• Lead end‑to‑end network deployment, including feasibility studies, technical surveys, contractor supervision and service readiness.
• Ensure timely, SLA‑compliant service activation, rapid issue resolution and continuous improvement of service quality.
• Provide technical input for business cases, CAPEX/OPEX planning, RFPs, RFQs and vendor evaluations.
• Collaborate with commercial, technology, operations, supply‑chain and project teams as well as external partners.
• Monitor service, billing and operational performance, conduct reconciliations and prepare reports for revenue assurance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Systems, Electronics, ICT or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in fixed network planning, design and delivery.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and analytical skills.
• Customer‑focused, results‑oriented and able to work in agile, data‑driven environments.

• FTTH, FTTx, GPON/XGS‑PON, OLT, ONT, BNG, AAA, ACS.
• Fibre optics, IP networking, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, microwave and optical transport.
• SD‑WAN, NFV, cloud technologies, network monitoring and capacity planning.
• Vendor and contractor management in multi‑vendor telecom environments.
