Finance Director – Donor‑Funded Project

About the role

The Finance Director will lead financial management for a donor‑funded project in Tanzania, working closely with the country office finance and administration teams. This senior position is contingent upon donor approval of the award and reports directly to the Project Director.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and produce monthly financial reports and accruals.
• Maintain an on‑site accounting system (QuickBooks), reconcile project and operating accounts, and oversee cash management and procurement.
• Ensure compliance with donor terms, Jhpiego policies, and applicable financial controls, including IPSAS and GAAP standards.
• Provide guidance and capacity‑building to regional finance staff and support the Project Director on financial matters.
• Manage grants, logistics, and financial reporting to meet donor performance‑based contract requirements.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field, plus CPA certification.
• 9–10 years of financial and administrative management experience on large, complex projects (≈ $10 million annual budget), with at least 5 years in international development.
• Minimum 7 years of senior‑level experience with USG or other donors, including performance‑based contracts.
• Strong knowledge of IPSAS and GAAP, grants contract management, and proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Office.
