Business Relationship Officer

About the role

The Business Relationship Officer will support the branch’s growth agenda by acquiring, onboarding and retaining micro‑ and consumer‑business customers. The role focuses on delivering quality lending, expanding CASA and transactional accounts, cross‑selling bank products and maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prospect and onboard micro and consumer business customers, grow CASA deposits and encourage usage of at least eight bank products per client.
• Recruit Equity Agents, Super Agents and merchants, promote the ABC platform and drive transaction volume to reduce branch footfall.
• Cross‑sell a range of bank products such as loans, insurance, cards, mobile banking, payments and basic trade finance.
• Prepare regular reports, share market intelligence on micro‑retail businesses and coordinate with the Commercial Department and Head Office.
• Source quality loan applications, conduct business assessments, validate KYC and ensure credit proposals meet approved standards.
• Monitor the loan portfolio, flag early warning signals, follow up on repayments and help keep the loan book healthy.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, resolve inquiries, reduce dormant accounts and ensure compliance with KYC, AML and bank policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Proven track record of achieving deposit growth targets.
• Strong sales and relationship‑management abilities with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of business operations, cash flows and commercial banking products.
• Results‑driven, proactive and able to work under pressure to meet targets.
