Branch Credit Analyst

About the role

The Branch Credit Analyst is responsible for reviewing, challenging and approving credit applications within a delegated lending mandate. The role ensures independent, high-quality credit decisions while balancing business growth with prudent risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Review, evaluate and approve or decline credit applications within delegated authority limits.
• Assess accuracy, completeness and financial soundness of credit proposals prepared by Credit Analysts.
• Apply credit expertise to sanction facilities, identify key risks and define mitigating conditions.
• Ensure compliance with the Retail Credit Policy, risk appetite framework and regulatory requirements.
• Escalate applications exceeding authority and provide clear feedback on deficient submissions.
• Monitor portfolio concentration, industry exposures and emerging trends.
• Enforce controls to prevent fraud, misrepresentation and policy breaches, including verification of suspended branches and restricted customers.
• Provide guidance and coaching to Credit Analysts on complex, high-risk applications and support continuous improvement of credit assessment methodologies.
• Determine appropriate facility structures, pricing recommendations and collateral arrangements, and approve related conditions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and participate in Credit Committees as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit analysis, risk evaluation and loan structuring within a banking environment.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, regulatory standards and risk appetite frameworks.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound credit decisions.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on financial statement analysis.
• Effective communication skills to provide clear feedback and collaborate with stakeholders.
