BIM/CAD Technician

About the role

Light.Func is an award‑winning lighting design studio seeking a BIM/CAD Technician for its newly opened Dar es Salaam office. The role supports the studio’s schematic, detailed design and IFC package production, working closely with the design team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical CAD support for lighting projects, creating layouts, detail installation drawings and coordinated RCP/sections.
• Manage individual workload, ensure accurate technical representation in drawings and maintain project‑specific content.
• Communicate procedural and standard changes to the team and attend interdisciplinary meetings.
• Review and safeguard confidential technical information.
• Utilise plug‑ins or custom scripts for lighting‑related tasks.
• Assist the design team in preparing full submittals and ensure all work is properly saved and confidential.

Required profile

• Experience in design, architecture, lighting or electrical industries.
• Ability to manage workload independently and maintain high‑quality drawing standards.
• Strong communication skills for internal coordination.
• Willingness to learn BIM techniques within a teaching studio environment.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (expert level)
• Revit (beginner to intermediate)
• Navisworks (beginner to intermediate)
• BIM 360 or Collaborate Pro (beginner to intermediate)
• Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Enscape, Dialux Evo, 3D Studio Max, Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign (advantageous)
