Accounts Clerk – EU Delegation (Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Delegation of the European Union in Dar es Salaam is seeking an Accounts Clerk to support its Administration Section. This is a fixed‑term, two‑year position (with a nine‑month probation period) that provides essential assistance in financial management, budgeting and reporting in line with EU regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify and process incoming invoices and payment requests against contracts, purchase orders and other supporting documents.
• Register commercial invoices, credit notes and internal documents in the SUMMA financial system and ensure timely payment.
• Execute payments to local bank accounts and follow up on outstanding or non‑executed transactions.
• Maintain the contractor database, including legal entity details, bank accounts and financial identifiers.
• Encode commitments, de‑commitments and budget forecasts in the mission’s budgeting software and accounting system.
• Manage petty‑cash accounts and monitor expenditure against the approved budget.
• Prepare routine financial reports, annual budget estimates and other required documentation.

Required profile

• Local agent, Group III level, working under the supervision of the Head of Administration Section.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow EU financial regulations.
• Capacity to work occasional atypical hours in a multicultural diplomatic environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the SUMMA financial management system.
