Tax Manager

About the role

PalmPay is seeking a proactive Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning and advisory for its Tanzanian operations. The role requires deep expertise in Tanzanian tax law and the ability to provide strategic guidance to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, excise duties and other statutory obligations.
• Maintain compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements and oversee preparation of tax returns and related documentation.
• Develop tax strategies to optimise the company’s tax position while ensuring full compliance.
• Provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions, contracts and investments, and advise on legislative changes.
• Lead and manage tax audits and investigations by TRA, identifying and mitigating tax risks.
• Maintain accurate tax records and documentation for audit readiness.
• Supervise and mentor the tax team, fostering professional development.
• Collaborate with finance, legal and operations teams to align tax strategies with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field; CPA or ACCA preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive tax experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, TRA procedures and international tax principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
• High integrity and commitment to compliance.

• Experience with ERP systems.
