Surgical Oncologist

About the role

The Surgical Oncologist will deliver comprehensive oncological surgery services, ensuring high‑quality patient care within a multidisciplinary hospital environment. Working closely with department leadership, the role supports the expansion and strengthening of oncology surgery services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient evaluation and surgical treatment for cancer patients following international guidelines.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based cancer awareness, screening, and early‑diagnosis protocols.
• Select appropriate diagnostic imaging and perform procedures such as laparoscopic biopsies for accurate staging.
• Collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists, nurses, and other specialists in tumor board meetings to create personalized treatment plans.
• Perform a range of surgical oncology procedures, including minimally invasive and extensive surgeries, tailored to cancer type and stage.
• Work with pathologists to analyze gross tissue samples and ensure proper histopathological staging.
• Provide pre‑operative, post‑operative care and ongoing patient follow‑up.
• Stay current with advances in surgical oncology through continuous professional development and research.
• Teach and mentor postgraduate residents, interns, and junior specialists in surgical oncology.
