Project Assistant – Early Detection Breast Cancer Program

About the role

The Project Assistant will provide technical and programmatic support to the Early Detection of Breast Cancer Program, focusing on national‑level planning, implementation, documentation, and monitoring & evaluation activities in Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Project Director, M&E Senior Specialist and technical team in preparing monthly work plans, activity budgets, meeting agendas and minutes.
• Coordinate and track the implementation of national‑level activities such as clinical breast examinations, referral pathways, training, mentorship and quality improvement.
• Compile, review and prepare program reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) by gathering information from regional teams and documenting lessons learned, best practices and challenges.
• Support routine data collection, cleaning, reconciliation and reporting of breast‑cancer early detection indicators in Zanzibar.
• Work with the Zanzibar M&E intern and Ministry of Health HMIS unit to strengthen data documentation, address data gaps and ensure data quality.

Required profile

• Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Experience working in health programs, preferably in monitoring and evaluation or data management.
• Excellent written communication skills for preparing reports, meeting minutes and documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Ministry of Health counterparts and international technical teams.

Required skills

• Familiarity with health information systems and reporting tools.
