Senior Technician – Heavy Equipment Maintenance

About the role

As a Senior Technician you will ensure optimal performance and safety of Epiroc rigs, loaders and trucks in Tanzania. You will deliver high-quality maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services to minimise downtime and help customers achieve peak drilling and equipment operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on Epiroc equipment in line with company standards.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and control system issues.
• Conduct equipment inspections using the Epiroc Rig Scan Auditing tool and produce detailed reports.
• Lead commissioning and functional testing of new equipment, providing hands-on training to customers.
• Execute repairs that reduce downtime and improve field reliability.
• Ensure all work complies with Epiroc safety protocols, site procedures and legal regulations.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, including parts usage and reports.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers and on-site personnel.
• Perform root-cause analysis of failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Support installation, upgrade and modification projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or a similar technical role.
• Diploma or degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Strong safety mindset with ability to conduct risk assessments.
• Excellent communication and customer-oriented approach.
• Proven ability to work independently in challenging field environments.
• Effective time-management and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and control system troubleshooting.
• Reading and interpreting technical schematics, drawings and manuals.
• Use of Epiroc Rig Scan Auditing tool.
• Commissioning and functional testing of heavy equipment.
