Senior Technical Officer – TB Services

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer – Tuberculosis provides expert technical leadership for scaling up TB prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment within the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The role focuses on integrating TB and HIV services across police, prison and public health facilities to ensure early detection and high‑quality, client‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and technical support for planning, implementation and monitoring of TB interventions across supported regions.
• Oversee TB screening, active case finding, diagnosis, treatment, preventive therapy, drug‑resistant TB management and infection prevention and control.
• Mentor and supervise regional teams, conduct clinical case reviews and strengthen capacity for high‑quality TB service delivery.
• Monitor program performance through data review, cascade analysis and data quality assessments, recommending corrective actions.
• Support integration of TB services with HIV, primary health care and community platforms, and promote use of digital health information systems for reporting.
• Coordinate with Ministry of Health, Police Medical Unit, Prisons Health and Nutrition Unit and other partners to address implementation challenges.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in TB program management, preferably within public‑health or humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzania MOH/NTLP policies, TB/HIV collaborative guidelines and global TB recommendations.
• Proven ability to provide mentorship, supportive supervision and capacity‑building to multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for performance monitoring and data‑driven decision making.
