Operational Technology Analyst – Underground Mining

About the role

The Operational Technology Analyst will support underground mining operations at Geita Gold Mine, ensuring reliable network connectivity, communications and technology infrastructure for safe and continuous production.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 operational technology support, including day and night shifts, for underground networks across Star & Comet, Nyankanga and Geita Hill.
• Install, test, commission and maintain underground OT infrastructure, including fiber‑optic cables and network devices.
• Perform splicing and fusing of fiber‑optic cables for new installations and fault repairs.
• Configure, register and monitor network devices to maintain optimal service availability and performance.
• React promptly to physical and logical violations, safeguarding the OT infrastructure against unauthorized access.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and continuous improvement of SCADA and other mine automation systems.

Required profile

• Willingness to work in a remote underground environment on rotating day/night shifts.
• Strong commitment to safety procedures and ability to identify and report hazards.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network problems in real time.
• Experience following safety protocols and reporting incidents promptly.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SCADA systems and mine automation solutions.
• Proficiency in fiber‑optic cable splicing and fusing.
• Knowledge of network device configuration, registration and topology management.
• Ability to monitor and maintain network performance and stability.
• Experience with preventive maintenance of underground OT equipment.
