Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller is a pivotal senior leadership role within Standard Chartered Bank's Finance team. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape and enhance financial governance, supporting sustainable business growth and promoting excellence in all finance‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage end‑to‑end financial accounting processes, delivering statutory, regulatory and internal reports in line with IFRS, local regulations and Group policies.
• Develop and continuously enhance a financial control framework to safeguard reporting quality, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with Group Tax and internal stakeholders to devise effective tax strategies, optimizing the bank’s tax position while ensuring compliance.
• Oversee capital adequacy, liquidity, funding and market‑risk parameters, balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives.
• Direct the external audit relationship, defining scope, coordinating deliverables and driving continuous improvement of financial controls.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing complex regulatory financial reporting frameworks with meticulous adherence to IFRS and local standards.
• Proven ability to prepare full IFRS‑compliant financial statements and conduct sophisticated financial analyses.
• Strong background in banking capital structures, liquidity strategies, funding operations and market‑risk management.
• Demonstrated leadership of multifunctional finance teams and effective stakeholder communication.
