Customer Clearance Supervisor

About the role

The Customer Clearance Supervisor is responsible for managing all import activities, ensuring smooth customs clearance, and coordinating logistics across ports, customs offices, and inland transport. This role leads an inspection team, maintains compliance with Tanzanian regulations, and works closely with warehouses and transport partners to guarantee timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee company imports, track shipments through customs, ports, and inland transport, and ensure complete documentation and timely fee payments.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Tanzanian customs regulations, import duties, and licensing requirements; identify and mitigate import risks.
• Handle customs inspections, fines, or disputes and maintain daily communication with customs, port, and yard officials.
• Coordinate with warehouses and transporters to arrange inbound storage and delivery, addressing port congestion and shipment delays.
• Supervise the inspection team, assign tasks, provide training, and report progress and critical issues to management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in import and customs clearance, preferably in Tanzania.
• Hands‑on experience at ports, yards, and customs operations.
• Proven ability to identify and manage risks effectively.
• Strong team management and leadership capabilities.
• High sense of responsibility, able to work under pressure, with excellent interpersonal and external communication skills.
