Agri Tech Specialist

About the role

The Agri Tech Specialist provides technical agronomy support across all crops in Tanzania, working closely with agronomists, field officers and extension staff to achieve production targets and drive yield and quality improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Identify skill gaps, develop and deliver technical training for the in‑country team.
• Guide trial managers on R&D activities, define research needs and evaluate new technologies to improve crop performance.
• Provide on‑farm technical guidance, troubleshoot issues and maintain strong relationships with farmers and chemical suppliers.
• Support sustainability goals through field assessments, data collection and implementation of regenerative agriculture practices.
• Collaborate with government bodies and co‑funded projects to expand the agriculture program.
• Lead regional agronomists and extension officers in executing trials, interpreting results and sharing best practices.

Required profile

• BSc (Hon) in Agronomy or related field with field crops experience.
• Minimum 5 years of agronomy experience, including work in seed or FMCG companies.
• Proven ability to work in international, multidisciplinary environments.
• Experience with grain storage, cost, quality and safe storage practices.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel up to 60 % of the time.

• Agronomy expertise – fertilization, soil management, pest & disease control, planting density, irrigation.
• Digital agriculture tools and data‑driven decision making.
• Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and Outlook.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
