Mechanical Technician

About the role

APM Terminals is seeking a Mechanical Technician to ensure the smooth operation of its Tanzania depot. The role focuses on inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems on depot trucks and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of depot trucks and equipment.
• Install, assemble, and test mechanical components.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs, including overhauling components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Monitor equipment performance and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and rotating systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimise equipment availability.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or VETA certification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance.
• Strong leadership and team‑guidance abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
