Engineer – Infrastructure and Construction Support

About the role

The Engineer will be based in Dodoma, Tanzania, providing technical guidance for the Kizota warehouse and Dodoma office infrastructure improvements. The role includes planning, design, supervision and implementation of flood mitigation, rehabilitation and construction of operational and welfare facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for construction projects, preparing budgets and technical specifications.
• Supervise and monitor quality, schedules and compliance of contractors, ensuring works are completed on time and within budget.
• Develop architectural plans, technical scopes, cost estimates, schedules and contract documentation.
• Coordinate with local authorities to obtain authorizations and ensure certification/approval upon project completion.
• Maintain comprehensive project records, including surveys, inspection reports, financial and progress data.
• Identify project risks, maintain risk logs and monitor implementation of mitigation measures.
• Support procurement by preparing tender documents, evaluating bids and advising on contractor payments.
• Ensure occupational health and safety standards are met on site and report any breaches.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree and experience in construction project management.
• Proven ability to supervise contractors, manage budgets and ensure compliance with technical specifications.
• Experience in risk identification, mitigation planning and health & safety oversight.
• Strong coordination skills with multiple stakeholders, including local authorities and UN partners.
